CENTENARY GROUP JOINS ROOFINGS TO REGREEN UGANDA

We have joined hands with Centenary Group (which includes Centenary Bank, Centenary Foundation) to plant trees throughout Uganda through the Centenary ecosystem.  We hosted the Centenary team led by Joseph Balikuddembe, the Executive Director of Centenary Bank and Annabel Ogwang- Okot, the Chief Executive Officer of the Centenary Foundation at our headquarters in Lubowa.

Dr. Martin Kyeyune, our Corporate Affairs Chief highlighted several environmental sustainability initiatives within our factories like recycling of acid, steel, and plastic scrap; state-of-the art air pollution control system among others.

Our Corporate Affairs Manager, Stuart Mwesigwa noted that climate change is affecting the world in many ways including yields of farmers and destruction of property. He further noted that this impacts the clientele of both Roofings and Centenary Bank.

Our Chief Finance Officer, Narayan Iyer, recognized that where there is development, there will be a certain degree of destruction of the environment. He said that it is good practice for key players like Roofings and Centenary to champion regreening Uganda. ‘Roofings’ goal is to support the planting of 10 million trees by 2030’ he announced.

Joseph Balikuddembe, the Executive Director of Centenary Bank noted that this is an exciting partnership between two local brands. He commended Roofings for walking the talk of regreening Uganda.

Annabel emphasized Centenary’s commitment to the green agenda, derived from the Papal message. ‘Collaborating with Roofings extends this initiative to various Centenary entities, including Centenary Foundation, , hospitals, schools, churches.

With a shared vision to plant millions of trees, this collaboration reflects the commitment of two influential entities to a greener and healthier future for Uganda.
